Michael Goldsmith brings more than three decades of travel industry, destination marketing, hospitality, airline, management and global travel industry experience to Magellan Marketing, a dynamic tourism marketing and management agency dedicated to brand building and business development for destinations and travel industry customers.
Prior to founding Magellan Marketing, Michael held high profile positions within some of most successful brands in the tourism world. During his 18-year tenure at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, he occupied numerous roles, including oversight of the organization’s 15 international representative offices and three domestic regional offices, air service development, international sales and public relations, digital engagement, sports marketing and special events, MICE and leisure sales.
Goldsmith is a respected travel industry leader, having recently served on the International Board of Directors for the Pacific Asia Travel Association, the Global Development Committee for Brand USA and the Global Leadership Committee for Destinations International.
He began his career in 1985 as a coordinator for Group Travel Specialists in Tucson, Arizona, where responsibilities included sales and marketing, transportation, housing, logistics and operations for individual and group travel to resort destinations in the United States and Mexico.
After graduating from the University of Arizona with a degree in Political Science and History, he worked at the Boulders Resort in Carefree, Arizona before joining America West Airlines as a customer service representative, a role that included airport passenger service functions, ticket counter and gate operations, baggage services, reservations and inflight service, working in Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 1993, he joined the sales team at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, where responsibilities included leisure sales programming and initiatives until he was promoted to convention sales, responsible for selling meetings and conventions to association and corporate travel buyers at the 2,100 room casino hotel.
In 1997, Michael was recruited by The Mirage, where he was responsible for selling the 3,044 room luxury gaming and entertainment resort to domestic and international corporate and incentive group travel buyers. Joining the pre-opening team at the Aladdin in 1999, Michael was part of the core team responsible for introducing the 2,567 room, gaming, retail and entertainment resort complex to the Las Vegas Strip, prior to joining the LVCVA in 2000.
